Amniocentesis

 

Our medical center uses the most advanced and highly accurate methods of prenatal testing, including genetic laboratory tests for the study of chromosomes. Genetic diseases analyses (Down syndrome, various types of trysomiy, and some hereditary diseases) are held via amniocentesis.

Amniocentesis is the most accurate method of invasive prenatal diagnosis. Accuracy of correct result makes up about 99.8 percent. Before the amniocentesis procedure a thorough fetal ultrasound is performed. Puncture and taking a sample of amniotic fluid is also done under ultrasound monitoring. The risk of miscarriage with this procedure is less than 0.5 percent.
